³⁵ So Jehoiakim ^(A)gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh, but he taxed the land in order to give the money at the ^[a]command of Pharaoh. He exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land, each according to his valuation, to give it to Pharaoh Neco.

⁹ Then Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ^(A)swore to them and to their men, saying, “^(B)Do not be afraid of serving the Chaldeans; stay in the land and serve the king of Babylon, that it may go well with you.
