^14 (A)And he broke in pieces the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherim and ^(B)filled their places with human bones.

¹⁶ Then Josiah turned, and he saw the graves that were there on the mountain, and he sent and took the bones from the graves and burned them on the altar and defiled it ^(A)according to the word of Yahweh which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

²⁰ And all the priests of the high places who were there ^(A)he ^[a]slaughtered on the altars and burned human bones on them. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

The Faithlessness of Jerusalem

8 “At that time,” declares Yahweh, “they will ^(A)bring out the bones of the kings of Judah and the bones of its princes, and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem from their graves. ² And they will spread them out to the sun, the moon, and to all the ^(B)host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have walked after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered ^(C)or buried; ^(D)they will be as dung on the face of the ground.
