9 [a]He heard also men say of Tirhakah king of [b]Ethiopia, [c]Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he therefore departed and sent other messengers unto Hezekiah, saying,
10 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, and say, Let not thy [d]God deceive thee in whom thou trustest, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, how they have destroyed them: and shalt thou be delivered?

New International Version
9 Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the king of Cush,[a] was marching out to fight against him. So he again sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word: 10 “Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend(A) on deceive(B) you when he says, ‘Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.’ 11 Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?
