^4 (A)He took away the high places and shattered the sacred pillars and cut down the ^[a]Asherah. And he broke in pieces ^(B)the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel were burning incense to it; and it was called ^[b]Nehushtan.

31 Now when all this was completed, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah, ^(A)shattered the pillars, cut the ^[a]Asherim in pieces, and tore down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until the destruction was completed. Then all the sons of Israel returned to their cities, each to his possession.
