4 But Jehoahaz entreated the Lord, and the Lord heeded him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram oppressed them.(A) 5 Therefore the Lord gave Israel a savior, so they escaped from the hand of the Arameans, and the people of Israel lived in their homes as formerly.(B) 6 Nevertheless, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam that he caused Israel to sin but walked[a] in them; the sacred pole[b] also remained in Samaria.(C)

New International Version
4 Then Jehoahaz sought(A) the Lord’s favor, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw(B) how severely the king of Aram was oppressing(C) Israel. 5 The Lord provided a deliverer(D) for Israel, and they escaped from the power of Aram. So the Israelites lived in their own homes as they had before. 6 But they did not turn away from the sins(E) of the house of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit; they continued in them. Also, the Asherah pole[a](F) remained standing in Samaria.
