Then Jehoahaz (A)sought the favor of the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, (B)for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them. (Therefore the Lord gave Israel (C)a savior, so that they escaped from the hand of the Syrians, and the people of Israel lived in (D)their homes as formerly. Nevertheless, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, (E)which he made Israel to sin, but walked[a] in them; and (F)the Asherah also remained in Samaria.)

Then Jehoahaz sought(A) the Lord’s favor, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw(B) how severely the king of Aram was oppressing(C) Israel. The Lord provided a deliverer(D) for Israel, and they escaped from the power of Aram. So the Israelites lived in their own homes as they had before. But they did not turn away from the sins(E) of the house of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit; they continued in them. Also, the Asherah pole[a](F) remained standing in Samaria.
