10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food(A) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.(B) 11 You will be enriched(C) in every way so that you can be generous(D) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.(E)

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs(F) of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.(G) 13 Because of the service(H) by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God(I) for the obedience that accompanies your confession(J) of the gospel of Christ,(K) and for your generosity(L) in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God(M) for his indescribable gift!(N)

Paul’s Defense of His Ministry

10 By the humility and gentleness(O) of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul,(P) who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold(Q) as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world.(R) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.(S) The weapons we fight with(T) are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power(U) to demolish strongholds.(V) We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,(W) and we take captive every thought to make it obedient(X) to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.(Y)

10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

10 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

10 Now [a]may He who (A)supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, [b]supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your (B)righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, (C)which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only (D)supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, 13 while, through the proof of this ministry, they (E)glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal (F)sharing with them and all men, 14 and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding (G)grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God (H)for His indescribable gift!

The Spiritual War

10 Now (I)I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—(J)who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. But I beg you (K)that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. (L)For the weapons (M)of our warfare are not [c]carnal but (N)mighty in God (O)for pulling down strongholds, (P)casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (Q)and being ready to punish all disobedience when (R)your obedience is fulfilled.
