2 Corinthians 8:2-5

2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and (A)their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave (B)according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly (C)for the favor[a] of taking part in (D)the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they (E)gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.

2 In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.(A) 3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able,(B) and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing(C) in this service(D) to the Lord’s people.(E) 5 And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
