14 For if I have (A)boasted to him about you regarding anything, I was not put to shame. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so also our boasting before (B)Titus proved to be the truth.

14 I had boasted to him about you,(A) and you have not embarrassed me. But just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting about you to Titus(B) has proved to be true as well.

for I know your willingness, of which I (A)boast about you to the (B)Macedonians, namely, that (C)Achaia has been prepared since (D)last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them. But I have sent the brothers, in order that our (E)boasting about you may not prove empty in this case, so that, (F)as I was saying, you will be prepared; otherwise, if any (G)Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to mention you—would be put to shame by this confidence. So I considered it necessary to urge the (H)brothers that they go on ahead to you and arrange in advance your previously promised [a](I)generous gift, that the same would be ready as a [b](J)generous gift, and not as one grudgingly given due to greediness.

Now I say this: (K)the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows [c]generously will also reap [d]generously. Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not (L)reluctantly or under compulsion, for (M)God loves a cheerful giver. And (N)God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; as it is written:

(O)He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor,
His righteousness [e]endures forever.”

10 Now He who supplies (P)seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and (Q)increase the harvest of your righteousness; 11 you will be (R)enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing (S)thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying (T)the needs of the [f]saints, but is also overflowing (U)through many thanksgivings to God. 13 Because of the proof given by this (V)ministry, they will (W)glorify God for your obedience to your (X)confession of the (Y)gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your [g]contribution to them and to all, 14 while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. 15 (Z)Thanks be to God for His indescribable (AA)gift!

For I know your eagerness to help,(A) and I have been boasting(B) about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year(C) you in Achaia(D) were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action. But I am sending the brothers(E) in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.(F) For if any Macedonians(G) come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to say anything about you—would be ashamed of having been so confident. So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers(H) to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift,(I) not as one grudgingly given.(J)

Generosity Encouraged

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.(K) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,(L) not reluctantly or under compulsion,(M) for God loves a cheerful giver.(N) And God is able(O) to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,(P) you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts(Q) to the poor;
    their righteousness endures forever.”[a](R)

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food(S) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.(T) 11 You will be enriched(U) in every way so that you can be generous(V) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.(W)

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs(X) of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.(Y) 13 Because of the service(Z) by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God(AA) for the obedience that accompanies your confession(AB) of the gospel of Christ,(AC) and for your generosity(AD) in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God(AE) for his indescribable gift!(AF)
