17 Therefore,

“Come out from them(A)
    and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
    and I will receive you.”[a](B)

18 And,

“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,(C)
says the Lord Almighty.”[b](D)

Therefore, since we have these promises,(E) dear friends,(F) let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness(G) out of reverence for God.

Paul’s Joy Over the Church’s Repentance

Make room for us in your hearts.(H) We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have exploited no one. I do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such a place in our hearts(I) that we would live or die with you.

  1. 2 Corinthians 6:17 Isaiah 52:11; Ezek. 20:34,41
  2. 2 Corinthians 6:18 2 Samuel 7:14; 7:8

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.
