16 Or (A)what agreement does [a]the temple of God have with idols? For we are [b](B)the temple of (C)the living God; just as God said,

(D)I will (E)dwell among them and (F)walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 (G)Therefore, (H)come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you.
18 (I)And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be (J)sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.

16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?(A) For we are the temple(B) of the living God.(C) As God has said:

“I will live with them
    and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
    and they will be my people.”[a](D)

17 Therefore,

“Come out from them(E)
    and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
    and I will receive you.”[b](F)

18 And,

“I will be a Father to you,
    and you will be my sons and daughters,(G)
says the Lord Almighty.”[c](H)

Therefore, since we have these promises,(I) dear friends,(J) let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness(K) out of reverence for God.
