2 Corinthians 13:8-10
Holman Christian Standard Bible
8 For we are not able to do anything against the truth,(A) but only for the truth. 9 In fact, we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong.(B) We also pray that you become fully mature.[a] 10 This is why I am writing these things while absent, that when I am there I will not use severity, in keeping with the authority the Lord gave me for building up(C) and not for tearing down.(D)

New International Version
8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 We are glad whenever we are weak(A) but you are strong;(B) and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.(C) 10 This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh(D) in my use of authority—the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.(E)
