²²set his seal^(A) of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.^(B)

²²Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

⁵Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.^(A)

⁵Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

⁴For he chose us^(A) in him before the creation of the world^(B) to be holy and blameless^(C) in his sight. In love^(D)

⁴According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
