¹² For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.^(A)

⁴² A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. ⁴³ Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.^{(A) 44} For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

⁷ Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not regretfully or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.^(A)

The Widow’s Offering

21 He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury;^{(A) 2} he also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins.^{(B) 3} He said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them, ⁴ for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

²⁹ All the Israelite men and women whose hearts made them willing to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.^(A)
