26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, (A)“Depart now from the tents of these wicked men! Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins.” 27 So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, their sons, and their little (B)children.

28 And Moses said: (C)“By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them (D)of my own will. 29 If these men die naturally like all men, or if they are (E)visited by the common fate of all men, then the Lord has not sent me. 30 But if the Lord creates (F)a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they (G)go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.”

(A)But Peter said, “Ananias, why has (B)Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

Then Ananias, hearing these words, (C)fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and (D)wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?”

She said, “Yes, for so much.”

Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together (E)to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 (F)Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 (G)So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan(A) has so filled your heart(B) that you have lied to the Holy Spirit(C) and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?(D) Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal?(E) What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”(F)

When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died.(G) And great fear(H) seized all who heard what had happened. Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body,(I) and carried him out and buried him.

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”

“Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”(J)

Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord?(K) Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”

10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died.(L) Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.(M) 11 Great fear(N) seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
