7 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.
2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house.
3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord.
5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
6 And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the Lord, which David the king had made to praise the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
7 Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
8 Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.
9 And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.
10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the Lord had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.
11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.
12 And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;
18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;
20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.
21 And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
22 And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.

The Shekinah Glory
7 When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the [[a]Shekinah] glory and brilliance of the Lord filled the house.(A) 2 The priests could not enter the house of the Lord because the glory and brilliance of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. 3 When all the people of Israel saw how the fire came down and saw the glory and brilliance of the Lord upon the house, they bowed down on the stone pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and praised the Lord, saying, “For He is good, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.”
Sacrifices Offered
4 Then the king and all the people offered a sacrifice before the Lord. 5 King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. In this way the king and all the people dedicated God’s house. 6 The priests stood at their posts [ready for service], and the Levites also, with the musical instruments of the Lord which King David had made to praise the Lord, saying, “For His lovingkindness and mercy endure forever,” whenever David offered praise through their ministry. The priests were opposite the Levites blowing the trumpets and all Israel was standing.
7 Moreover, Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard that was in front of the house of the Lord, for it was there that he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings because the bronze altar which he had made was not sufficient to hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat [all together].
The Feast of Dedication
8 At that time Solomon observed the feast for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very large assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt. 9 On the eighth day they held a celebration, for they had observed the dedication of the altar for seven days, and the feast for seven days. 10 And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month Solomon sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and happy in heart because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David, to Solomon, and to His people Israel.
God’s Promise and Warning
11 And so Solomon finished the house (temple) of the Lord and the palace of the king. He successfully accomplished all that he had planned to do in the house of the Lord and in his palace.
12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence and plague among My people, 14 and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and sanctified and set apart for My purpose this house that My Name may be here forever, and My eyes and My heart will be here perpetually. 17 As for you [Solomon], if you will [b]walk before me as your father David walked, and do everything that I have commanded you, and observe My statutes and My ordinances,(B) 18 then I will establish your royal throne just as I covenanted with your father David, saying, ‘You will not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’
19 “But if you [people] turn away and abandon My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and you go and serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from My land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have consecrated for My Name, out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and an object of scorn among all nations.(C) 21 And as for this house, which was so exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and appalled and say, ‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22 Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods, and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this adversity and evil on them.’”

La fiesta de dedicación
7 Cuando Salomón terminó de orar(A), descendió fuego desde el cielo y consumió el holocausto y los sacrificios, y la gloria del Señor llenó la casa[a](B). 2 Los sacerdotes no podían entrar en la casa del Señor, porque la gloria del Señor llenaba la casa del Señor(C). 3 Y todos los israelitas, viendo descender el fuego y la gloria del Señor sobre la casa, se postraron rostro en tierra sobre el pavimento y adoraron y alabaron al Señor, diciendo: «Ciertamente Él es bueno; ciertamente Su misericordia es para siempre(D)».
4 Entonces el rey y todo el pueblo ofrecieron sacrificio delante del Señor(E). 5 Y el rey Salomón ofreció un sacrificio de 22,000 bueyes y 120,000 ovejas. Así dedicaron la casa de Dios, el rey y todo el pueblo. 6 (F)Los sacerdotes estaban en sus debidos lugares, también los levitas con los instrumentos de música para el Señor, los cuales había hecho el rey David para alabar al Señor (porque para siempre es Su misericordia), cuando David ofrecía alabanza por medio de ellos. Los sacerdotes tocaban trompetas frente a ellos(G), y todo Israel estaba de pie. 7 (H)Salomón consagró también la parte central del atrio que estaba delante de la casa del Señor, pues allí había ofrecido los holocaustos y la grasa de las ofrendas de paz, porque el altar de bronce que Salomón había hecho no podía contener el holocausto, la ofrenda de cereal y la grasa.
8 Salomón celebró la fiesta en aquella ocasión por siete días, y todo Israel con él, una asamblea muy grande, que vinieron desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el torrente de Egipto(I). 9 Y al octavo día tuvieron una asamblea solemne; porque habían celebrado la dedicación del altar por siete días(J) y la fiesta por siete días. 10 Entonces, el día veintitrés del mes séptimo, Salomón envió al pueblo a sus tiendas, gozosos y alegres de corazón por el bien que el Señor había mostrado a David, a Salomón y a Su pueblo Israel.
11 (K)Así acabó Salomón la casa del Señor y el palacio del rey, y llevó a cabo todo lo que se había propuesto hacer en la casa del Señor y en su palacio. 12 Y el Señor se apareció a Salomón de noche y le dijo: «He oído tu oración, y he escogido para Mí este lugar como casa de sacrificio(L). 13 Si cierro los cielos para que no haya lluvia, o si mando la langosta a devorar la tierra, o si envío la pestilencia entre Mi pueblo(M), 14 y se humilla Mi pueblo sobre el cual es invocado Mi nombre, y oran, buscan Mi rostro y se vuelven de sus malos caminos, entonces Yo oiré desde los cielos, perdonaré su pecado(N) y sanaré su tierra. 15 Ahora Mis ojos estarán abiertos y Mis oídos atentos a la oración que se haga en este lugar(O), 16 pues ahora he escogido y consagrado esta casa(P) para que Mi nombre esté allí para siempre, y Mis ojos y Mi corazón estarán allí todos los días. 17 Y en cuanto a ti, si andas delante de Mí como anduvo tu padre David, haciendo conforme a todo lo que te he mandado, y guardas Mis estatutos y Mis ordenanzas, 18 Yo afirmaré el trono de tu reino como pacté con tu padre David, diciendo: “No te faltará hombre que gobierne en Israel(Q)”.
19 »Pero si ustedes se apartan y abandonan Mis estatutos y Mis mandamientos que he puesto delante de ustedes(R), y van y sirven a otros dioses y los adoran, 20 Yo los arrancaré de Mi tierra que les he dado(S), y echaré de Mi presencia esta casa que he consagrado a Mi nombre, y la convertiré en refrán y escarnio entre todos los pueblos(T). 21 Y en cuanto a esta casa, que ha sido exaltada, todo el que pase cerca de ella, se asombrará y dirá: “¿Por qué ha hecho así el Señor a esta tierra(U) y a esta casa?”. 22 Y responderán: “Porque abandonaron al Señor, Dios de sus padres, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y tomaron otros dioses(V), los adoraron y los sirvieron; por eso Él ha traído toda esta adversidad sobre ellos”».
