32 “Likewise when foreigners, who are not of your people Israel, come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm, when they come and pray toward this house,(A) 33 then hear from heaven your dwelling place and do whatever the foreigners ask of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and so they may know that your name has been invoked on this house that I have built.(B)
34 “If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea and maintain their cause.
36 “If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to a land far off or near,(C) 37 then if they come to their senses in the land to which they have been taken captive and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned and have done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’(D) 38 if they repent with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity, to which they were taken captive, and pray toward their land that you gave to their ancestors, the city that you have chosen, and the house that I have built for your name, 39 then hear from heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their pleas, maintain their cause, and forgive your people who have sinned against you. 40 Now, O my God, let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to prayer from this place.(E)
41 Now rise up, O Lord God, and go to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
Let your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
and let your faithful rejoice in your goodness.(F)
42 O Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.
Remember your steadfast love for your servant David.”

32 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come(A) from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand(B) and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner(C) asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
34 “When your people go to war against their enemies,(D) wherever you send them, and when they pray(E) to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
36 “When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin(F)—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive(G) to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart(H) in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive(I) your people, who have sinned against you.
40 “Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive(J) to the prayers offered in this place.
41 “Now arise,(K) Lord God, and come to your resting place,(L)
you and the ark of your might.

7 For thus says the Lord:
Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob,
and raise shouts for the chief of the nations;
proclaim, give praise, and say,
“Save, O Lord, your people,
the remnant of Israel.”(A)
8 See, I am going to bring them from the land of the north
and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth,
among them the blind and the lame,
those with child and those in labor together;
a great company, they shall return here.(B)
9 With weeping they shall come,
and with consolations[a] I will lead them back;
I will let them walk by brooks of water,
in a straight path where they shall not stumble,
for I have become a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is my firstborn.(C)
10 Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
and declare it in the coastlands far away;
say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him
and will keep him as a shepherd does a flock.”(D)
11 For the Lord has ransomed Jacob
and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.(E)
12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion,
and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord,
over the grain, the wine, and the oil,
and over the young of the flock and the herd;
their life shall become like a watered garden,
and they shall never languish again.(F)
13 Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
and the young men and the old shall be merry.[b]
I will turn their mourning into joy;
I will comfort them and give them gladness for sorrow.(G)
14 I will give the priests their fill of fatness,
and my people shall be satisfied with my bounty,
says the Lord.(H)

“Sing(A) with joy for Jacob;

Make your praises heard, and say,
‘Lord, save(C) your people,
the remnant(D) of Israel.’
8 See, I will bring them from the land of the north(E)
and gather(F) them from the ends of the earth.
Among them will be the blind(G) and the lame,(H)
expectant mothers and women in labor;
a great throng will return.
9 They will come with weeping;(I)
they will pray as I bring them back.
I will lead(J) them beside streams of water(K)
on a level(L) path where they will not stumble,
because I am Israel’s father,(M)
and Ephraim is my firstborn son.
10 “Hear the word of the Lord, you nations;
proclaim it in distant coastlands:(N)
‘He who scattered(O) Israel will gather(P) them
and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’(Q)
11 For the Lord will deliver Jacob
and redeem(R) them from the hand of those stronger(S) than they.
12 They will come and shout for joy(T) on the heights(U) of Zion;
they will rejoice in the bounty(V) of the Lord—
the grain, the new wine and the olive oil,(W)
the young of the flocks(X) and herds.
They will be like a well-watered garden,(Y)
and they will sorrow(Z) no more.
13 Then young women will dance and be glad,
young men and old as well.
I will turn their mourning(AA) into gladness;
I will give them comfort(AB) and joy(AC) instead of sorrow.
14 I will satisfy(AD) the priests(AE) with abundance,
and my people will be filled with my bounty,(AF)”
