²⁰ And those who had escaped from the sword he ^(A)took away into exile to Babylon; and ^(B)they were slaves to him and to his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia,

The Proclamation of Cyrus

1 ^(A)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to complete the word of ^[a]Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah—Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he ^(B)had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:

¹⁰ “^(A)Persia and ^(B)Lud and ^(C)Put were in your military force, your men of war. They hung shield and helmet in you; they set forth your majesty.

²⁰ The ^(A)ram which you saw with the two horns is the kings of Media and Persia.
