²⁵ Then ^(A)Jeremiah chanted a lament for Josiah. And all the male and female singers speak about Josiah in their lamentations to this day. And they made them a statute in Israel; behold, they are also written in the lamentations.

¹² And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God; ^(A)he did not humble himself ^(B)before Jeremiah the prophet who spoke from the mouth of Yahweh.

^21 (A)to fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until ^(B)the land had made up for its sabbaths. ^(C)All the days of its desolation it kept sabbath ^[a](D)until seventy years were fulfilled.

The Proclamation of Cyrus

^22 (E)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to complete the word of Yahweh ^(F)by the mouth of Jeremiah—Yahweh ^(G)stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

1 ^(A)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to complete the word of ^[a]Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah—Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he ^(B)had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:

² in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, discerned in the books the ^(A)number of the years concerning which the word of ^[a]Yahweh came to ^(B)Jeremiah the prophet for the fulfillment of the laying waste of Jerusalem, namely, ^(C)seventy years.

¹⁷ Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,

¹⁴ And they said, “Some say ^(A)John the Baptist; and others, ^[a](B)Elijah; but still others, ^[b]Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

⁹ Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “^(A)And ^[a]they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one whose price had been set by the sons of Israel;
