27 But because your heart was receptive, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants, and because you have humbled yourself before me, have ripped your clothing, and have wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.

28 Listen to my response! I will gather you to your fathers. You will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I will bring upon this place and its inhabitants.

They brought back this message to the king.

Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place and on those who live here.’”(D)

So they took her answer back to the king.

29 Then the king called together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
