(A)He did evil in the sight of the Lord according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord dispossessed before the sons of Israel. For (B)he rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had torn down; (C)he also set up altars for the Baals and made [a]Asherim, and he worshiped all the heavenly [b]lights and served them. (D)He built altars in the house of the Lord of which the Lord had said, “My name shall be (E)in Jerusalem forever.” He built altars for all the heavenly [c]lights in (F)the two courtyards of the house of the Lord. (G)He also made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery, and (H)dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger. Then he put (I)the carved image of the idol which he had made in the house of God, of which God had said to David and his son Solomon, “(J)In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord,(A) following the detestable(B) practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had demolished; he also erected altars to the Baals and made Asherah poles.(C) He bowed down(D) to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “My Name(E) will remain in Jerusalem forever.” In both courts of the temple of the Lord,(F) he built altars to all the starry hosts. He sacrificed his children(G) in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums(H) and spiritists.(I) He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger.

He took the image he had made and put it in God’s temple,(J) of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.
