8 And the wrath of Yahweh was upon Judah and Jerusalem. And he made them as an abhorrence, as a desolation and an object of scorn, as you see with your own eyes. 9 Now behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity on account of this. 10 Now it is in my heart[a] to make[b] a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger might turn away from him.

New International Version
8 Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror(A) and scorn,(B) as you can see with your own eyes. 9 This is why our fathers have fallen by the sword and why our sons and daughters and our wives are in captivity.(C) 10 Now I intend to make a covenant(D) with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger(E) will turn away from us.

8 Wherefore the wrath of the Lord was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
