²²And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the Lord: this is that king Ahaz.

²²In his time of trouble King Ahaz became even more unfaithful^(A) to the Lord.

²⁹The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

²⁹The bellows blow fiercely
to burn away the lead with fire,
but the refining^(A) goes on in vain;
the wicked are not purged out.

³⁰Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.

³⁰They are called rejected silver,^(A)
because the Lord has rejected them.”^(B)
