When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, saying, “(A)They have humbled themselves so I will not bring them to ruin, but I will grant them some measure of escape, and (B)My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. But they will become his slaves so (C)that they may know the difference between My slavery and the slavery of the kingdoms of the countries.”

Shishak Takes from Yahweh’s House

(D)So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took the treasures of the house of Yahweh and the treasures of the king’s house. He took everything; (E)he even took the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance.(A) My wrath(B) will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak. They will, however, become subject(C) to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands.”

When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields(D) Solomon had made.
