1 奉 我 們 救 主 神 和 我 們 的 盼 望 基 督 耶 穌 之 命 ， 作 基 督 耶 穌 使 徒 的 保 羅 ，
2 寫 信 給 那 因 信 主 作 我 真 兒 子 的 提 摩 太 。 願 恩 惠 、 憐 憫 、 平 安 從 父 神 和 我 們 主 基 督 耶 穌 歸 與 你 ！
3 我 往 馬 其 頓 去 的 時 候 ， 曾 勸 你 仍 住 在 以 弗 所 ， 好 囑 咐 那 幾 個 人 不 可 傳 異 教 ，
4 也 不 可 聽 從 荒 渺 無 憑 的 話 語 和 無 窮 的 家 譜 ； 這 等 事 只 生 辯 論 ， 並 不 發 明 神 在 信 上 所 立 的 章 程 。
5 但 命 令 的 總 歸 就 是 愛 ； 這 愛 是 從 清 潔 的 心 和 無 虧 的 良 心 ， 無 偽 的 信 心 生 出 來 的 。
6 有 人 偏 離 這 些 ， 反 去 講 虛 浮 的 話 ，
7 想 要 作 教 法 師 ， 卻 不 明 白 自 己 所 講 說 的 所 論 定 的 。
8 我 們 知 道 律 法 原 是 好 的 ， 只 要 人 用 得 合 宜 ；
9 因 為 律 法 不 是 為 義 人 設 立 的 ， 乃 是 為 不 法 和 不 服 的 ， 不 虔 誠 和 犯 罪 的 ， 不 聖 潔 和 戀 世 俗 的 ， 弒 父 母 和 殺 人 的 ，
10 行 淫 和 親 男 色 的 ， 搶 人 口 和 說 謊 話 的 ， 並 起 假 誓 的 ， 或 是 為 別 樣 敵 正 道 的 事 設 立 的 。
11 這 是 照 著 可 稱 頌 之 神 交 託 我 榮 耀 福 音 說 的 。
12 我 感 謝 那 給 我 力 量 的 我 們 主 基 督 耶 穌 ， 因 他 以 我 有 忠 心 ， 派 我 服 事 他 。
13 我 從 前 是 褻 瀆 神 的 ， 逼 迫 人 的 ， 侮 慢 人 的 ； 然 而 我 還 蒙 了 憐 憫 ， 因 我 是 不 信 不 明 白 的 時 候 而 做 的 。
14 並 且 我 主 的 恩 是 格 外 豐 盛 ， 使 我 在 基 督 耶 穌 裡 有 信 心 和 愛 心 。
15 基 督 耶 穌 降 世 ， 為 要 拯 救 罪 人 。 這 話 是 可 信 的 ， 是 十 分 可 佩 服 的 。 在 罪 人 中 我 是 個 罪 魁 。
16 然 而 ， 我 蒙 了 憐 憫 ， 是 因 耶 穌 基 督 要 在 我 這 罪 魁 身 上 顯 明 他 一 切 的 忍 耐 ， 給 後 來 信 他 得 永 生 的 人 作 榜 樣 。
17 但 願 尊 貴 、 榮 耀 歸 與 那 不 能 朽 壞 、 不 能 看 見 、 永 世 的 君 王 、 獨 一 的 神 ， 直 到 永 永 遠 遠 。 阿 們 ！
18 我 兒 提 摩 太 阿 ， 我 照 從 前 指 著 你 的 預 言 ， 將 這 命 令 交 託 你 ， 叫 你 因 此 可 以 打 那 美 好 的 仗 。
19 常 存 信 心 和 無 虧 的 良 心 。 有 人 丟 棄 良 心 ， 就 在 真 道 上 如 同 船 破 壞 了 一 般 。
20 其 中 有 許 米 乃 和 亞 力 山 大 ； 我 已 經 把 他 們 交 給 撒 但 ， 使 他 們 受 責 罰 就 不 再 謗 瀆 了 。
2 我 勸 你 ， 第 一 要 為 萬 人 懇 求 、 禱 告 、 代 求 、 祝 謝 ；
2 為 君 王 和 一 切 在 位 的 ， 也 該 如 此 ， 使 我 們 可 以 敬 虔 、 端 正 、 平 安 無 事 的 度 日 。
3 這 是 好 的 ， 在 神 我 們 救 主 面 前 可 蒙 悅 納 。
4 他 願 意 萬 人 得 救 ， 明 白 真 道 。
5 因 為 只 有 一 位 神 ， 在 神 和 人 中 間 ， 只 有 一 位 中 保 ， 乃 是 降 世 為 人 的 基 督 耶 穌 ；
6 他 捨 自 己 作 萬 人 的 贖 價 ， 到 了 時 候 ， 這 事 必 證 明 出 來 。
7 我 為 此 奉 派 作 傳 道 的 ， 作 使 徒 ， 作 外 邦 人 的 師 傅 ， 教 導 他 們 相 信 ， 學 習 真 道 。 我 說 的 是 真 話 ， 並 不 是 謊 言 。
8 我 願 男 人 無 忿 怒 ， 無 爭 論 （ 或 作 ： 疑 惑 ） ， 舉 起 聖 潔 的 手 ， 隨 處 禱 告 。
9 又 願 女 人 廉 恥 、 自 守 ， 以 正 派 衣 裳 為 妝 飾 ， 不 以 編 髮 、 黃 金 、 珍 珠 ， 和 貴 價 的 衣 裳 為 妝 飾 ；
10 只 要 有 善 行 ， 這 才 與 自 稱 是 敬 神 的 女 人 相 宜 。
11 女 人 要 沉 靜 學 道 ， 一 味 的 順 服 。
12 我 不 許 女 人 講 道 ， 也 不 許 他 轄 管 男 人 ， 只 要 沉 靜 。
13 因 為 先 造 的 是 亞 當 ， 後 造 的 是 夏 娃 ；
14 且 不 是 亞 當 被 引 誘 ， 乃 是 女 人 被 引 誘 ， 陷 在 罪 裡 。
15 然 而 ， 女 人 若 常 存 信 心 、 愛 心 ， 又 聖 潔 自 守 ， 就 必 在 生 產 上 得 救 。
3 人 若 想 要 得 監 督 的 職 分 ， 就 是 羨 慕 善 工 。 這 話 是 可 信 的 。
2 作 監 督 的 ， 必 須 無 可 指 責 ， 只 作 一 個 婦 人 的 丈 夫 ， 有 節 制 ， 自 守 ， 端 正 ， 樂 意 接 待 遠 人 ， 善 於 教 導 ；
3 不 因 酒 滋 事 ， 不 打 人 ， 只 要 溫 和 ， 不 爭 競 ， 不 貪 財 ；
4 好 好 管 理 自 己 的 家 ， 使 兒 女 凡 事 端 莊 順 服 （ 或 作 ： 端 端 莊 莊 地 使 兒 女 順 服 ） 。
5 人 若 不 知 道 管 理 自 己 的 家 ， 焉 能 照 管 神 的 教 會 呢 ？
6 初 入 教 的 不 可 作 監 督 ， 恐 怕 他 自 高 自 大 ， 就 落 在 魔 鬼 所 受 的 刑 罰 裡 。
7 監 督 也 必 須 在 教 外 有 好 名 聲 ， 恐 怕 被 人 毀 謗 ， 落 在 魔 鬼 的 網 羅 裡 。
8 作 執 事 的 ， 也 是 如 此 ： 必 須 端 莊 ， 不 一 口 兩 舌 ， 不 好 喝 酒 ， 不 貪 不 義 之 財 ；
9 要 存 清 潔 的 良 心 ， 固 守 真 道 的 奧 祕 。
10 這 等 人 也 要 先 受 試 驗 ， 若 沒 有 可 責 之 處 ， 然 後 叫 他 們 作 執 事 。
11 女 執 事 （ 原 文 是 女 人 ） 也 是 如 此 ： 必 須 端 莊 ， 不 說 讒 言 ， 有 節 制 ， 凡 事 忠 心 。
12 執 事 只 要 作 一 個 婦 人 的 丈 夫 ， 好 好 管 理 兒 女 和 自 己 的 家 。
13 因 為 善 作 執 事 的 ， 自 己 就 得 到 美 好 的 地 步 ， 並 且 在 基 督 耶 穌 裡 的 真 道 上 大 有 膽 量 。
14 我 指 望 快 到 你 那 裡 去 ， 所 以 先 將 這 些 事 寫 給 你 。
15 倘 若 我 耽 延 日 久 ， 你 也 可 以 知 道 在 神 的 家 中 當 怎 樣 行 。 這 家 就 是 永 生 神 的 教 會 ， 真 理 的 柱 石 和 根 基 。
16 大 哉 ， 敬 虔 的 奧 祕 ！ 無 人 不 以 為 然 ： 就 是 神 在 肉 身 顯 現 ， 被 聖 靈 稱 義 （ 或 作 ： 在 靈 性 稱 義 ） ， 被 天 使 看 見 ， 被 傳 於 外 邦 ， 被 世 人 信 服 ， 被 接 在 榮 耀 裡 。
4 聖 靈 明 說 ， 在 後 來 的 時 候 ， 必 有 人 離 棄 真 道 ， 聽 從 那 引 誘 人 的 邪 靈 和 鬼 魔 的 道 理 。
2 這 是 因 為 說 謊 之 人 的 假 冒 ； 這 等 人 的 良 心 如 同 被 熱 鐵 烙 慣 了 一 般 。
3 他 們 禁 止 嫁 娶 ， 又 禁 戒 食 物 （ 或 作 ： 又 叫 人 戒 葷 ） ， 就 是 神 所 造 、 叫 那 信 而 明 白 真 道 的 人 感 謝 著 領 受 的 。
4 凡 神 所 造 的 物 都 是 好 的 ， 若 感 謝 著 領 受 ， 就 沒 有 一 樣 可 棄 的 ，
5 都 因 神 的 道 和 人 的 祈 求 成 為 聖 潔 了 。
6 你 若 將 這 些 事 提 醒 弟 兄 們 ， 便 是 基 督 耶 穌 的 好 執 事 ， 在 真 道 的 話 語 和 你 向 來 所 服 從 的 善 道 上 得 了 教 育 。
7 只 是 要 棄 絕 那 世 俗 的 言 語 和 老 婦 荒 渺 的 話 ， 在 敬 虔 上 操 練 自 己 。
8 操 練 身 體 ， 益 處 還 少 ； 惟 獨 敬 虔 ， 凡 事 都 有 益 處 ， 因 有 今 生 和 來 生 的 應 許 。
9 這 話 是 可 信 的 ， 是 十 分 可 佩 服 的 。
10 我 們 勞 苦 努 力 ， 正 是 為 此 ， 因 我 們 的 指 望 在 乎 永 生 的 神 ； 他 是 萬 人 的 救 主 ， 更 是 信 徒 的 救 主 。
11 這 些 事 ， 你 要 吩 咐 人 ， 也 要 教 導 人 。
12 不 可 叫 人 小 看 你 年 輕 ， 總 要 在 言 語 、 行 為 、 愛 心 、 信 心 、 清 潔 上 ， 都 作 信 徒 的 榜 樣 。
13 你 要 以 宣 讀 、 勸 勉 、 教 導 為 念 ， 直 等 到 我 來 。
14 你 不 要 輕 忽 所 得 的 恩 賜 ， 就 是 從 前 藉 著 預 言 、 在 眾 長 老 按 手 的 時 候 賜 給 你 的 。
15 這 些 事 你 要 殷 勤 去 做 ， 並 要 在 此 專 心 ， 使 眾 人 看 出 你 的 長 進 來 。
16 你 要 謹 慎 自 己 和 自 己 的 教 訓 ， 要 在 這 些 事 上 恆 心 ； 因 為 這 樣 行 ， 又 能 救 自 己 ， 又 能 救 聽 你 的 人 。
5 不 可 嚴 責 老 年 人 ， 只 要 勸 他 如 同 父 親 ； 勸 少 年 人 如 同 弟 兄 ；
2 勸 老 年 婦 女 如 同 母 親 ； 勸 少 年 婦 女 如 同 姐 妹 ； 總 要 清 清 潔 潔 的 。
3 要 尊 敬 那 真 為 寡 婦 的 。
4 若 寡 婦 有 兒 女 ， 或 有 孫 子 孫 女 ， 便 叫 他 們 先 在 自 己 家 中 學 著 行 孝 ， 報 答 親 恩 ， 因 為 這 在 神 面 前 是 可 悅 納 的 。
5 那 獨 居 無 靠 、 真 為 寡 婦 的 ， 是 仰 賴 神 ， 晝 夜 不 住 的 祈 求 禱 告 。
6 但 那 好 宴 樂 的 寡 婦 正 活 著 的 時 候 也 是 死 的 。
7 這 些 事 你 要 囑 咐 他 們 ， 叫 他 們 無 可 指 責 。
8 人 若 不 看 顧 親 屬 ， 就 是 背 了 真 道 ， 比 不 信 的 人 還 不 好 ， 不 看 顧 自 己 家 裡 的 人 ， 更 是 如 此 。
9 寡 婦 記 在 冊 子 上 ， 必 須 年 紀 到 六 十 歲 ， 從 來 只 作 一 個 丈 夫 的 妻 子 ，
10 又 有 行 善 的 名 聲 ， 就 如 養 育 兒 女 ， 接 待 遠 人 ， 洗 聖 徒 的 腳 ， 救 濟 遭 難 的 人 ， 竭 力 行 各 樣 善 事 。
11 至 於 年 輕 的 寡 婦 ， 就 可 以 辭 他 ； 因 為 他 們 的 情 慾 發 動 ， 違 背 基 督 的 時 候 就 想 要 嫁 人 。
12 他 們 被 定 罪 ， 是 因 廢 棄 了 當 初 所 許 的 願 ；
13 並 且 他 們 又 習 慣 懶 惰 ， 挨 家 閒 遊 ； 不 但 是 懶 惰 ， 又 說 長 道 短 ， 好 管 閒 事 ， 說 些 不 當 說 的 話 。
14 所 以 我 願 意 年 輕 的 寡 婦 嫁 人 ， 生 養 兒 女 ， 治 理 家 務 ， 不 給 敵 人 辱 罵 的 把 柄 。
15 因 為 已 經 有 轉 去 隨 從 撒 但 的 。
16 信 主 的 婦 女 ， 若 家 中 有 寡 婦 ， 自 己 就 當 救 濟 他 們 ， 不 可 累 著 教 會 ， 好 使 教 會 能 救 濟 那 真 無 倚 靠 的 寡 婦 。
17 那 善 於 管 理 教 會 的 長 老 ， 當 以 為 配 受 加 倍 的 敬 奉 ； 那 勞 苦 傳 道 教 導 人 的 ， 更 當 如 此 。
18 因 為 經 上 說 ： 牛 在 場 上 踹 穀 的 時 候 ， 不 可 籠 住 他 的 嘴 ； 又 說 ： 工 人 得 工 價 是 應 當 的 。
19 控 告 長 老 的 呈 子 ， 非 有 兩 三 個 見 證 就 不 要 收 。
20 犯 罪 的 人 ， 當 在 眾 人 面 前 責 備 他 ， 叫 其 餘 的 人 也 可 以 懼 怕 。
21 我 在 神 和 基 督 耶 穌 並 蒙 揀 選 的 天 使 面 前 囑 咐 你 ： 要 遵 守 這 些 話 ， 不 可 存 成 見 ， 行 事 也 不 可 有 偏 心 。
22 給 人 行 按 手 的 禮 ， 不 可 急 促 ； 不 要 在 別 人 的 罪 上 有 分 ， 要 保 守 自 己 清 潔 。
23 因 你 胃 口 不 清 ， 屢 次 患 病 ， 再 不 要 照 常 喝 水 ， 可 以 稍 微 用 點 酒 。
24 有 些 人 的 罪 是 明 顯 的 ， 如 同 先 到 審 判 案 前 ； 有 些 人 的 罪 是 隨 後 跟 了 去 的 。
25 這 樣 ， 善 行 也 有 明 顯 的 ， 那 不 明 顯 的 也 不 能 隱 藏 。
6 凡 在 軛 下 作 僕 人 的 ， 當 以 自 己 主 人 配 受 十 分 的 恭 敬 ， 免 得 神 的 名 和 道 理 被 人 褻 瀆 。
2 僕 人 有 信 道 的 主 人 ， 不 可 因 為 與 他 是 弟 兄 就 輕 看 他 ； 更 要 加 意 服 事 他 ； 因 為 得 服 事 之 益 處 的 ， 是 信 道 蒙 愛 的 。 你 要 以 此 教 訓 人 ， 勸 勉 人 。
3 若 有 人 傳 異 教 ， 不 服 從 我 們 主 耶 穌 基 督 純 正 的 話 與 那 合 乎 敬 虔 的 道 理 ，
4 他 是 自 高 自 大 ， 一 無 所 知 ， 專 好 問 難 ， 爭 辯 言 詞 ， 從 此 就 生 出 嫉 妒 、 分 爭 、 毀 謗 、 妄 疑 ，
5 並 那 壞 了 心 術 、 失 喪 真 理 之 人 的 爭 競 。 他 們 以 敬 虔 為 得 利 的 門 路 。
6 然 而 ， 敬 虔 加 上 知 足 的 心 便 是 大 利 了 ；
7 因 為 我 們 沒 有 帶 甚 麼 到 世 上 來 ， 也 不 能 帶 甚 麼 去 。
8 只 要 有 衣 有 食 ， 就 當 知 足 。
9 但 那 些 想 要 發 財 的 人 ， 就 陷 在 迷 惑 、 落 在 網 羅 和 許 多 無 知 有 害 的 私 慾 裡 ， 叫 人 沉 在 敗 壞 和 滅 亡 中 。
10 貪 財 是 萬 惡 之 根 。 有 人 貪 戀 錢 財 ， 就 被 引 誘 離 了 真 道 ， 用 許 多 愁 苦 把 自 己 刺 透 了 。
11 但 你 這 屬 神 的 人 要 逃 避 這 些 事 ， 追 求 公 義 、 敬 虔 、 信 心 、 愛 心 、 忍 耐 、 溫 柔 。
12 你 要 為 真 道 打 那 美 好 的 仗 ， 持 定 永 生 。 你 為 此 被 召 ， 也 在 許 多 見 證 人 面 前 ， 已 經 作 了 那 美 好 的 見 證 。
13 我 在 叫 萬 物 生 活 的 神 面 前 ， 並 在 向 本 丟 彼 拉 多 作 過 那 美 好 見 證 的 基 督 耶 穌 面 前 囑 咐 你 ：
14 要 守 這 命 令 ， 毫 不 玷 污 ， 無 可 指 責 ， 直 到 我 們 的 主 耶 穌 基 督 顯 現 。
15 到 了 日 期 ， 那 可 稱 頌 、 獨 有 權 能 的 萬 王 之 王 、 萬 主 之 主 ，
16 就 是 那 獨 一 不 死 、 住 在 人 不 能 靠 近 的 光 裡 ， 是 人 未 曾 看 見 、 也 是 不 能 看 見 的 ， 要 將 他 顯 明 出 來 。 但 願 尊 貴 和 永 遠 的 權 能 都 歸 給 他 。 阿 們 ！
17 你 要 囑 咐 那 些 今 世 富 足 的 人 ， 不 要 自 高 ， 也 不 要 倚 靠 無 定 的 錢 財 ； 只 要 倚 靠 那 厚 賜 百 物 給 我 們 享 受 的 神 。
18 又 要 囑 咐 他 們 行 善 ， 在 好 事 上 富 足 ， 甘 心 施 捨 ， 樂 意 供 給 （ 或 作 ： 體 貼 ） 人 ，
19 為 自 己 積 成 美 好 的 根 基 ， 預 備 將 來 ， 叫 他 們 持 定 那 真 正 的 生 命 。
20 提 摩 太 阿 ， 你 要 保 守 所 託 付 你 的 ， 躲 避 世 俗 的 虛 談 和 那 敵 真 道 、 似 是 而 非 的 學 問 。
21 已 經 有 人 自 稱 有 這 學 問 ， 就 偏 離 了 真 道 。 願 恩 惠 常 與 你 們 同 在 ！

1 我保罗奉我们救主上帝和赐我们盼望的基督耶稣的命令，做基督耶稣的使徒， 2 写信给因信主而做我真儿子的提摩太。
愿父上帝和我们的主基督耶稣的恩典、怜悯和平安临到你！
谨防异端邪说
3 我去马其顿的时候，曾经劝你继续留在以弗所，好命令那几个人不要传讲异端邪说， 4 也不要沉迷于虚构的神话和冗长的家谱，因为这些事只会引起无用的猜测和辩论，无法帮助人凭信心认识上帝的救赎计划。 5 制止这些人的目的是为了爱，这爱来自于清洁的心、无亏的良心和真实无伪的信心。 6 可惜有些人却偏离这些，转向空洞的谈论。 7 他们想做律法教师，却不明白自己所谈论所主张的。
8 我们知道，只要用得合宜，律法本是好的。 9 因为律法并不是为义人设的，而是为了对付那些目无法纪、大逆不道、不敬畏上帝、犯罪作恶、不圣洁、贪恋世俗、谋杀父母、行凶害命、 10 淫乱、同性恋、拐卖人口、说谎、起假誓的人，以及其他违反正道的人。 11 这正道来自当受称颂的上帝托付我传扬的荣耀福音。
感谢上帝的怜悯
12 我感谢赐我力量的主基督耶稣，因为祂视我忠心可靠，派我事奉祂。 13 尽管我从前是个亵渎上帝、迫害和侮辱信徒的人，但我仍然蒙了怜悯，因为那时我无知，还没有信耶稣。 14 主赐给我丰富的恩典，使我在基督耶稣里有信心和爱心。
15 有句话千真万确、完全可信，就是“基督耶稣降世，为要拯救罪人。”在罪人中我是个罪魁， 16 但我依然蒙了怜悯，因为耶稣基督要在我这个罪魁身上彰显祂无限的忍耐，使我做那些要信靠祂并得到永生之人的榜样。
17 愿尊贵、荣耀归给那位不朽的、肉眼不能见的万世君王——独一无二的上帝，直到永远。阿们！
18 我儿提摩太啊，我依照从前有关你的预言，把这命令托付给你，好使你借此打美好的仗。 19 你要持守信心和无亏的良心。有些人丧掉良心，结果他们的信仰就像船触了礁， 20 其中有许米乃和亚历山大。我已经把他们交给撒旦，使他们受些教训，不敢再说亵渎的话。
要为他人祷告
2 我劝你首先要为所有的人恳求、祷告、代求，为他们感谢上帝。 2 也要为所有的君王和掌权者祷告，使我们可以怀着虔诚、端正的心过和平安宁的生活。 3 这样做很美好，是蒙我们的救主上帝悦纳的。 4 因为祂愿全人类都得救，明白真理。 5 上帝只有一位，在上帝和人类之间只有一位中保，就是降世为人的基督耶稣。 6 祂舍命作全人类的赎价，这在所定的时候已显明出来。 7 为此，我被指派做传道人和使徒，教导外族人认识信仰和真理。我说的是实话，并非谎言。
信徒的操守
8 我愿男人举起圣洁的手随处祷告，不发怒，不争辩[a]。 9 我愿女人衣着朴素端庄，不靠发型、珠宝金饰或名贵衣服来妆饰自己， 10 要有良好的行为，这样才配称为敬畏上帝的妇女。 11 妇女应当安安静静地学习，完全顺服。
12 我不准女人教导或管辖男人，她们应当保持安静。 13 因为先造的是亚当，后造的是夏娃， 14 受骗犯罪的不是亚当，是夏娃。 15 不过，女人如果持守信心和爱心，圣洁自律，就必在生育的事上得救。
监督与执事的资格
3 “人若渴望做教会的监督，他是在爱慕尊贵的工作。”这句话千真万确。 2 做监督的人必须无可指责，只有一位妻子，为人节制自律、通情达理、受人尊敬、乐于接待客旅、善于教导， 3 不酗酒、不好斗、要温和、不争吵、不贪财， 4 善于管理自己的家，受儿女的敬重和孝顺。 5 一个人要是不懂得管理自己的家，又怎能照顾上帝的教会呢？ 6 初信主的人不可做监督，免得他自高自大，遭受魔鬼所受的惩罚。 7 做监督的在教会以外也必须有好名声，以免被人指责，陷入魔鬼的圈套。

奥妙无比的信仰

谨防伪君子
4 圣灵明确地说，日后必有人离弃真道，去追随那些迷惑人的邪灵和鬼魔的学说。 2 这些学说是出自假冒伪善的骗子，他们良心丧尽，麻木不仁[c]， 3 禁止人结婚和吃某些食物。其实那些食物是上帝创造的，为了让相信并且明白真理的人存感谢的心领受。 4 上帝所造的一切都是美好的，若以感恩的心去领受，就无需任何禁忌， 5 因为上帝的道和人的祷告可以使食物圣洁。
6 你要提醒弟兄姊妹这些事，这样你就是基督耶稣的好仆人，会不断地从你所信的真道和所遵行的美好教导上得到造就。
做信徒的榜样
7 但你要弃绝世俗、荒诞的传说，要训练自己做个敬虔的人。 8 锻炼体魄益处还少，敬虔生活受益无穷，拥有今生和永世的应许。 9 这话真实可信，值得完全接受。 10 我们努力奋斗正是为了这个目的，因为我们的盼望在于永活的上帝。祂是全人类的救主，更是信徒的救主。 11 你要吩咐和教导这些事。

信徒的责任
5 不要斥责年长的，要像对待父亲一样劝他们；对待青年男子要情同手足； 2 对待年长的妇女要情同母亲；对待青年女子要心思纯正，视她们如姊妹。
3 要敬重和帮助那些真正有需要的寡妇。 4 如果寡妇有儿孙，就要叫她们的儿孙在家中学习尽孝道，奉养她们，以报答养育之恩，这是上帝所悦纳的。 5 真正有需要、无依无靠的寡妇仰赖上帝的帮助，昼夜不住地祷告祈求。 6 但贪图享受的寡妇虽然活着，却已经死了。 7 你当教导众人这些事，好叫他们无可指责。 8 谁不照顾自己的亲属，尤其是不照顾自己的家人，就是违背真道，比不信的人还坏。
9 列入名册的寡妇必须年满六十岁，在婚姻上从一而终， 10 并且在善事上有好名声，如教养儿女、接待外人、服侍圣徒、救助困苦、竭力做各种善事。
11 不要把年轻的寡妇列入名册，因为当她们情欲冲动，无法持守对基督的委身时，就想再嫁， 12 以致违背了起初的誓言而受审判。 13 况且，她们不仅懒散成性，四处串门，还说长道短，好管闲事，搬弄是非。 14 所以，我建议年轻的寡妇再嫁，生儿育女，料理家务，不要给仇敌毁谤的机会， 15 因为有些人已经偏离正道，去追随撒旦了。 16 女信徒的家里若有寡妇，就应该自己照顾她们，免得加重教会的负担，这样教会才能照顾那些真正无依无靠的寡妇。

异端与贪财

Timothy Charged to Oppose False Teachers
3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia,(G) stay there in Ephesus(H) so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines(I) any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths(J) and endless genealogies.(K) Such things promote controversial speculations(L) rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. 5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart(M) and a good conscience(N) and a sincere faith.(O) 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. 7 They want to be teachers(P) of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.(Q)
8 We know that the law is good(R) if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous(S) but for lawbreakers and rebels,(T) the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine(U) 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.(V)
The Lord’s Grace to Paul
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength,(W) that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.(X) 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor(Y) and a violent man, I was shown mercy(Z) because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.(AA) 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly,(AB) along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.(AC)

The Charge to Timothy Renewed
18 Timothy, my son,(AO) I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you,(AP) so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well,(AQ) 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience,(AR) which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.(AS) 20 Among them are Hymenaeus(AT) and Alexander,(AU) whom I have handed over to Satan(AV) to be taught not to blaspheme.
Instructions on Worship
2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers,(AW) intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority,(AX) that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness(AY) and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases(AZ) God our Savior,(BA) 4 who wants(BB) all people(BC) to be saved(BD) and to come to a knowledge of the truth.(BE) 5 For there is one God(BF) and one mediator(BG) between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,(BH) 6 who gave himself as a ransom(BI) for all people. This has now been witnessed to(BJ) at the proper time.(BK) 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying(BL)—and a true and faithful teacher(BM) of the Gentiles.(BN)
8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands(BO) without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,(BP) 10 but with good deeds,(BQ) appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission.(BR) 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet.(BS) 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.(BT) 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.(BU) 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love(BV) and holiness with propriety.
Qualifications for Overseers and Deacons
3 Here is a trustworthy saying:(BW) Whoever aspires to be an overseer(BX) desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach,(BY) faithful to his wife,(BZ) temperate,(CA) self-controlled, respectable, hospitable,(CB) able to teach,(CC) 3 not given to drunkenness,(CD) not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome,(CE) not a lover of money.(CF) 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[d] respect.(CG) 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)(CH) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited(CI) and fall under the same judgment(CJ) as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,(CK) so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.(CL)
8 In the same way, deacons[e](CM) are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine,(CN) and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.(CO) 10 They must first be tested;(CP) and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
11 In the same way, the women[f] are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers(CQ) but temperate(CR) and trustworthy in everything.
12 A deacon must be faithful to his wife(CS) and must manage his children and his household well.(CT) 13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
Reasons for Paul’s Instructions
14 Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, 15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church(CU) of the living God,(CV) the pillar and foundation of the truth. 16 Beyond all question, the mystery(CW) from which true godliness(CX) springs is great:
He appeared in the flesh,(CY)
was vindicated by the Spirit,[g]
was seen by angels,
was preached among the nations,(CZ)
was believed on in the world,
was taken up in glory.(DA)
4 The Spirit(DB) clearly says that in later times(DC) some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits(DD) and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.(DE) 3 They forbid people to marry(DF) and order them to abstain from certain foods,(DG) which God created(DH) to be received with thanksgiving(DI) by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good,(DJ) and nothing is to be rejected(DK) if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God(DL) and prayer.
6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters,[h] you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith(DM) and of the good teaching that you have followed.(DN) 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales;(DO) rather, train yourself to be godly.(DP) 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things,(DQ) holding promise for both the present life(DR) and the life to come.(DS) 9 This is a trustworthy saying(DT) that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God,(DU) who is the Savior of all people,(DV) and especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things.(DW) 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you(DX) because you are young, but set an example(DY) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith(DZ) and in purity. 13 Until I come,(EA) devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,(EB) to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy(EC) when the body of elders(ED) laid their hands on you.(EE)
15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save(EF) both yourself and your hearers.
Widows, Elders and Slaves
5 Do not rebuke an older man(EG) harshly,(EH) but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men(EI) as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
3 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.(EJ) 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents,(EK) for this is pleasing to God.(EL) 5 The widow who is really in need(EM) and left all alone puts her hope in God(EN) and continues night and day to pray(EO) and to ask God for help. 6 But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.(EP) 7 Give the people these instructions,(EQ) so that no one may be open to blame. 8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied(ER) the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, 10 and is well known for her good deeds,(ES) such as bringing up children, showing hospitality,(ET) washing the feet(EU) of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble(EV) and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
11 As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry. 12 Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge. 13 Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies(EW) who talk nonsense,(EX) saying things they ought not to. 14 So I counsel younger widows to marry,(EY) to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander.(EZ) 15 Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.(FA)
16 If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.(FB)
17 The elders(FC) who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor,(FD) especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”[i](FE) and “The worker deserves his wages.”[j](FF) 19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder(FG) unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.(FH) 20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove(FI) before everyone, so that the others may take warning.(FJ) 21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus(FK) and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands,(FL) and do not share in the sins of others.(FM) Keep yourself pure.(FN)
23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine(FO) because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
24 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. 25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.
6 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect,(FP) so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered.(FQ) 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers.(FR) Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[k] of their slaves.
False Teachers and the Love of Money
These are the things you are to teach and insist on.(FS) 3 If anyone teaches otherwise(FT) and does not agree to the sound instruction(FU) of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited(FV) and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words(FW) that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth(FX) and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
6 But godliness with contentment(FY) is great gain.(FZ) 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.(GA) 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.(GB) 9 Those who want to get rich(GC) fall into temptation and a trap(GD) and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money(GE) is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith(GF) and pierced themselves with many griefs.(GG)
Final Charge to Timothy
11 But you, man of God,(GH) flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness,(GI) faith, love,(GJ) endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight(GK) of the faith. Take hold of(GL) the eternal life(GM) to which you were called when you made your good confession(GN) in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate(GO) made the good confession,(GP) I charge you(GQ) 14 to keep this command without spot or blame(GR) until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,(GS) 15 which God will bring about in his own time(GT)—God, the blessed(GU) and only Ruler,(GV) the King of kings and Lord of lords,(GW) 16 who alone is immortal(GX) and who lives in unapproachable light,(GY) whom no one has seen or can see.(GZ) To him be honor and might forever. 17 Command those who are rich(HB) in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth,(HC) which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God,(HD) who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.(HE) 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds,(HF) and to be generous and willing to share.(HG) 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves(HH) as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of(HI) the life that is truly life.
20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted(HJ) to your care. Turn away from godless chatter(HK) and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.(HL)

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
3 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
5 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
6 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
