1 Timothy 5:3-8
New American Standard Bible
3 Honor widows who are actually (A)widows; 4 but if any widow has children or grandchildren, (B)they must first learn to show proper respect for their own family and to give back compensation to their parents; for this is (C)acceptable in the sight of God. 5 Now she who is actually a (D)widow and has been left alone (E)has set her hope on God, and she continues in (F)requests and prayers night and day. 6 But she who (G)indulges herself in luxury is (H)dead, even while she lives. 7 [a](I)Give these instructions as well, so that they may be above reproach. 8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has (J)denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 5:3-8
Lexham English Bible
3 Honor widows who are truly widows. 4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must learn to show profound respect for their own household first, and to pay back recompense to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. 5 But the widow who is one truly, and is left alone, has put her hope in God and continues in her petitions and prayers night and day. 6 But the one who lives for sensual pleasure is dead even though she[a] lives. 7 And command these things, in order that they may be irreproachable. 8 But if someone does not provide for his own relatives, and especially the members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
