The Thessalonians' Faith and Example

²^(A)We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly^[a] ^(B)mentioning you in our prayers, ³remembering before ^(C)our God and Father ^(D)your work of faith and labor of ^(E)love and ^(F)steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁴For we know, ^(G)brothers^[b] loved by God, ^(H)that he has chosen you, ⁵because ^(I)our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and ^(J)in the Holy Spirit and with full ^(K)conviction. You know ^(L)what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. ⁶And ^(M)you became imitators of us ^(N)and of the Lord, for ^(O)you received the word in much affliction, ^(P)with the ^(Q)joy of the Holy Spirit, ⁷so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. ⁸For not only has the word of the Lord ^(R)sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth ^(S)everywhere, so that we need not say anything. ⁹For they themselves report concerning us the kind of ^(T)reception we had among you, and how ^(U)you turned to God ^(V)from idols to serve the living and ^(W)true God, ¹⁰and ^(X)to wait for his Son ^(Y)from heaven, ^(Z)whom he raised from the dead, Jesus ^(AA)who delivers us from ^(AB)the wrath to come.

²^(A)We always give thanks to God for all of you, ^(B)making mention of you in our prayers; ³constantly keeping in mind your ^(C)work of faith and labor of ^(D)love and ^[a]^(E)perseverance of hope ^[b]in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of ^(F)our God and Father, ⁴knowing, ^(G)brothers and sisters, beloved by God, ^(H)His choice of you; ⁵for our ^(I)gospel did not come to you in word only, but also ^(J)in power and in the Holy Spirit and with ^(K)full conviction; just as you know ^(L)what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sakes. ⁶You also became ^(M)imitators of us and of the Lord, ^(N)having received ^(O)the word during great affliction with the ^(P)joy of the Holy Spirit, ⁷so that you became an example to all the believers in ^(Q)Macedonia and ^(R)Achaia. ⁸For ^(S)the word of the Lord has ^(T)sounded forth from you, not only in ^(U)Macedonia and ^(V)Achaia, but ^(W)in every place the news of your faith toward God has gone out, so that we have no need to say anything. ⁹For they themselves report about us ^[c]as to the kind of ^(X)reception we had with you, and how you ^(Y)turned to God ^(Z)from ^[d]idols to serve ^[e]^(AA)a living and true God, ¹⁰and to ^(AB)wait for His Son from ^[f]heaven, whom He ^(AC)raised from the dead, that is, Jesus who ^(AD)rescues us from ^(AE)the wrath to come.
