1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
Common English Bible
3 God’s will is that your lives are dedicated to him.[a] This means that you stay away from sexual immorality 4 and learn how to control your own body in a pure[b] and respectable way. 5 Don’t be controlled by your sexual urges like the Gentiles who don’t know God. 6 No one should mistreat or take advantage of their brother or sister in this issue. The Lord punishes people for all these things, as we told you before and sternly warned you. 7 God didn’t call us to be immoral but to be dedicated to him.[c] 8 Therefore, whoever rejects these instructions isn’t rejecting a human authority. They are rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

3 It is God’s will(A) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;(B) 4 that each of you should learn to control your own body[a](C) in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust(D) like the pagans,(E) who do not know God;(F) 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[b](G) The Lord will punish(H) all those who commit such sins,(I) as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.(J) 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.(K)
