19 They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at Ramah. Elkanah knew his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her.(A) 20 In due time Hannah conceived and bore a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, “I have asked him of the Lord.”(B)

Samuel’s Birth and Dedication
19 The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to bow in worship before the Lord. Afterward, they returned home to Ramah.(A) Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her.(B) 20 After some time,[a] Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel,[b] because she said, “I requested him from the Lord.”
