13 So Saul removed him from his presence and made him a commander of a thousand, and David marched out and came in, leading the army.(A) 14 David had success in all his undertakings, for the Lord was with him.(B) 15 When Saul saw that he had great success, he stood in awe of him. 16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, for it was he who marched out and came in leading them.(C)

13 So Saul removed him from his presence,[a] and made him commander of a thousand, so he[b] marched in and out at the front of the army.[c] 14 And David was achieving success in all his ways and Yahweh was with him, 15 but when Saul saw that he was very successful, he was severely threatened by him.[d] 16 However, all of Israel and Judah were loving David, for he was going forth and marching ahead of them.
