¹⁰The next day ^(A)a harmful spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and ^(B)he raved within his house while David was ^(C)playing the lyre, as he did day by day. ^(D)Saul had his spear in his hand. ¹¹And Saul ^(E)hurled the spear, for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David evaded him twice.

¹²^(F)Saul was afraid of David because ^(G)the Lord was with him ^(H)but had departed from Saul.

¹⁰The next day, while David was playing the lyre^[a] as he had before, the evil spirit from the Lord attacked Saul, and he began to rave^[b] inside the house with a spear in his hand. ¹¹Saul hurled it, thinking,^[c] “I’ll pin David to the wall.” But David escaped from him twice.

¹²Now Saul was afraid of David because the Lord was with him and had departed from Saul.
