10 As Samuel was offering burnt offerings, the Philistines approached to do battle with Israel.[a] But on that day the Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines. He caused them to panic, and they were defeated by[b] Israel.

10 Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. (A)But the Lord thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.
