2 koos hij 3000 mannen uit de Israëlieten. Daarvan waren er 2000 bij hem in Michmas en in de bergen van Bet-El. En 1000 waren er bij zijn zoon Jonatan in Gibea in het gebied van de stam van Benjamin. Maar de rest van het volk liet hij naar huis gaan.

2 Saul chose three thousand men from Israel; two thousand(A) were with him at Mikmash(B) and in the hill country of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan at Gibeah(C) in Benjamin. The rest of the men he sent back to their homes.
