22 Since you have purified yourselves by your obedience to the truth,[a] so that you show sincere brotherly love for each other,(A) from a pure[b] heart love one another constantly,[c](B) 23 because you have been born again(C)—not of perishable seed(D) but of imperishable—through the living and enduring word of God.(E) 24 For

All flesh is like grass,
and all its glory(F) like a flower of the grass.
The grass withers, and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.[d](G)

And this word is the gospel that was proclaimed to you.

22 As you set yourselves apart by your obedience to the truth so that you might have genuine affection for your fellow believers, love each other deeply and earnestly. 23 Do this because you have been given new birth—not from the type of seed that decays but from seed that doesn’t.
