23 పిమ్మట హీరాము కంచుతో ఒక గుండ్రని కోనేరు తయారు చేశాడు. (దానిని వారు “సముద్రం” అని పిలిచారు) ఆ సముద్రం సుమారు నలభై ఐదు అడుగుల[a] చుట్టు కొలత కలిగివుంది. ఒక అంచునుండి మరొక అంచు వరకు సముద్రం అడ్డుగా పదిహేను అడుగులు వుంది. దాని లోతు ఏడున్నర అడుగులు. 24 దాని చుట్టు బయటి అంచున ఒక కమ్మి ఉన్నది. ఈ కమ్మి కింద రెండు వరుసల కంచు సొరతీగె పొందుపర్చబడింది. అనగా ఈ కంచు సొరతీగ ఒక్క ముక్కగానే చెరువుతో పాటు ఒకే సారి మలచబడింది. 25 ఈ కోనేటిని పన్నెండు కంచు గిత్తల వీపులపై నిలిపారు. ఈ పన్నెండు గిత్తలు చెరువునుండి బయటికి చూస్తున్నాయి. మూడు ఉత్తరానికి, మూడు తూర్పుకు, మూడు దక్షిణానికి, మరి మూడు పడమరకు చూస్తున్నాయి. 26 కంచు చెరువు అంచుమందం నాలుగు అంగుళాలు. చెరువు అంచు గిన్నె అంచులా, విచ్చిన పూరేకులా వున్నది. ఆ చెరువులో సుమారు తొమ్మిది గరిసెల[b] నీరు పడుతుంది.
27 హీరాము తరువాత పది కంచు తోపుడు బండ్ల వంటివి తయారుచేశాడు. ఒక్కొక్క దాని పొడవు ఆరు అడుగులు (నాలుగు మూరలు), వెడల్పు ఆరు అడుగులు, మరియు ఎత్తు నాలుగున్నర అడుగులు (మూడు మూరలు), 28 వీటి పక్కలు నాలుగు మూలలుగా వున్న కంచు పలకలతో మూయబడ్డాయి. ఆ నాలుగు మూలలుగా వున్న పలకలు చట్రాలతో బిగించబడ్డాయి. 29 ఆ పలకల మీద సింహాలు, గిత్త దూడలు, కెరూబులు చిత్రీకరించబడ్డాయి. ఆ సింహాల, గిత్తల బొమ్మలపై వరుస, కింది వరుసలలో పువ్వుల అలంకరణ కంచులోకి దట్టించి ముద్రించబడింది. 30 ప్రతి బండికి నాలుగు కంచు చక్రాలున్నాయి. చక్రాలకు ఇరుసులున్నాయి. మూలల మీద పెద్ద గిన్నెలు నిలపటానికి కంచు ముక్కల ఆధారం వుంది. ఆ కంచు ఆధారాల మీద పూలు చెక్కబడ్డాయి. 31 ఆ గిన్నెలకు పైన అంచు చుట్టూ చట్రముంది. గిన్నెకు పదునెనిమిది అంగుళాల ఎత్తున అదివుంది. గిన్నె మూతి గుండ్రంగా వున్నది. గిన్నెలోతు ఇరువది ఏడు అంగుళాలు. చట్రం మీద కూడ అలంకరణ చెక్కబడి వున్నది. ఈ చట్రం గుండ్రంగా గాక నాలుగు పలకలుగా వుంది. 32 అడుగు చట్రం కింద నాలుగు చక్రాలున్నాయి. చక్రాలు ఇరవై ఏడు అంగుళాల ఎత్తు వున్నాయి. చక్రాల ఇరుసులు బండితో ఒకే రీతిగా చేయబడ్డాయి. 33 వీటి చక్రాలు రథ చక్రాలను పోలి వున్నాయి. చక్రాలలో ప్రతిదీ వాటి మధ్య కడ్డీలు, అంచులు, చువ్వలు, చక్రపు నడిమి భాగం కంచుతో చేయబడింది.
34 ప్రతి బండికీ నాలుగు మూలలా నాలుగు ఆధారాలున్నాయి. అవన్నీ బండితో పాటు ఒకే రీతిగా చేయబడినవే. 35 ప్రతి బండి చుట్టూ పైభాగాన ఒక బొద్దు వంటి చట్రముంది. అది బండితో కలిసి ఏకంగా చేయబడింది. 36 బండి పక్కన గల కంచు పలకలపై కెరూబుల, సింహాల, తమాల వృక్షాల చిత్రాలు మలచబడ్డాయి. ఎక్కడెక్కడ అవకాశం వున్నదో అక్కడ చిత్రాలు, అలంకరణలు చెక్కబడ్డాయి. చుట్టూ అనేక పుష్పాలు చెక్కబడ్డాయి. 37 ఆ రకంగా హీరాము పది బండ్లను తయారు చేశాడు. ప్రతీదీ కరిగించిన కంచును మూసలో పోత పోశాడు. కావున అన్ని బండ్లు ఒకే పరిమాణంలో, ఒకే ఆకారంలో ఉన్నాయి.

23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
24 And under the brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast.
25 It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.
26 And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths.
27 And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it.
28 And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges:
29 And on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges there was a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen were certain additions made of thin work.
30 And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters molten, at the side of every addition.
31 And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round.
32 And under the borders were four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.
33 And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their naves, and their felloes, and their spokes, were all molten.
34 And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself.
35 And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof were of the same.
36 For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.
37 After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.

23 He made the Sea(A) of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line(B) of thirty cubits[a] to measure around it. 24 Below the rim, gourds encircled it—ten to a cubit. The gourds were cast in two rows in one piece with the Sea.
25 The Sea stood on twelve bulls,(C) three facing north, three facing west, three facing south and three facing east. The Sea rested on top of them, and their hindquarters were toward the center. 26 It was a handbreadth[b] in thickness, and its rim was like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held two thousand baths.[c]
27 He also made ten movable stands(D) of bronze; each was four cubits long, four wide and three high.[d] 28 This is how the stands were made: They had side panels attached to uprights. 29 On the panels between the uprights were lions, bulls and cherubim—and on the uprights as well. Above and below the lions and bulls were wreaths of hammered work. 30 Each stand(E) had four bronze wheels with bronze axles, and each had a basin resting on four supports, cast with wreaths on each side. 31 On the inside of the stand there was an opening that had a circular frame one cubit[e] deep. This opening was round, and with its basework it measured a cubit and a half.[f] Around its opening there was engraving. The panels of the stands were square, not round. 32 The four wheels were under the panels, and the axles of the wheels were attached to the stand. The diameter of each wheel was a cubit and a half. 33 The wheels were made like chariot wheels; the axles, rims, spokes and hubs were all of cast metal.
34 Each stand had four handles, one on each corner, projecting from the stand. 35 At the top of the stand there was a circular band half a cubit[g] deep. The supports and panels were attached to the top of the stand. 36 He engraved cherubim, lions and palm trees on the surfaces of the supports and on the panels, in every available space, with wreaths all around. 37 This is the way he made the ten stands. They were all cast in the same molds and were identical in size and shape.

The Sea
23 He made the sea of cast metal. It was round, fifteen feet from rim to rim. It was seven and a half feet high. Its circumference was forty-five feet. 24 Under its rim all the way around there were round, gourd-shaped ornaments, one every two inches, all the way around the sea.[a] The ornaments were in two rows, cast as one piece with the sea. 25 The sea stood on twelve cattle, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The sea was set on them. All their hindquarters faced toward the center of the sea. 26 The sea was three inches[b] thick. Its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held twelve thousand gallons.[c]
The Carts
27 He made ten bronze carts. Each cart was six feet long and six feet wide and four and a half feet tall. 28 This is how the carts were constructed: They had side panels between supporting frames. 29 The panels between the frames were decorated with lions, cattle, and cherubim. On the frames, both above and below the lions and cattle, there were wreaths hanging down.[d] 30 Each cart had four bronze wheels with bronze axles, and at each of the four corners of the cart there were supports for the basin, with wreaths beside each of them. 31 The opening on top of the cart within a crowning structure was a foot and a half deep. The opening was round. It had a supporting pedestal a little more than two feet tall.[e] Around the opening there were engravings, and the panel that surrounded the opening was square, not round.
32 The four wheels were underneath the side panels, and the axles for the wheels were inserted through the cart. The height of each wheel was twenty-seven inches. 33 The wheels were made like a chariot wheel. Their axles, rims, spokes, and hubs were all of cast metal. 34 There were supports at each of the four corners of each cart. The supports were part of the cart itself. 35 In the top of the cart there was a round opening nine inches deep.[f] On top of the cart the supports and its panels were one piece with it. 36 On the panels between the supports he engraved cherubim, lions, and palm trees wherever there was room, with wreaths all around. 37 That is how he made the carts. All of them were cast with the same mold, so they had the same size and shape.

- 1 Kings 7:26 Literally two thousand baths. The reading in 2 Chronicles 4:5 is three thousand baths. They may have been using different standards for the size of a bath or rounding off.
- 1 Kings 7:29 A very different interpretation of this phrase is: On top of the framed sides there was a platform/pedestal/mounting stand. The mounting stand would be the structure that supported the basin that was inserted into the stand. The translation of the description of the carts is uncertain.
- 1 Kings 7:31 The meaning of this sentence is uncertain, and the interpretations in different translations vary.
- 1 Kings 7:35 The meaning of this sentence is uncertain.
