1 John 4:20-5:1

²⁰If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet hates his brother or sister,^(A) he is a liar.^(B) For the person who does not love his brother or sister^(C) whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.^[a] ²¹And we have this command from him: The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.

5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God,^(D) and everyone who loves the Father^[b] also loves the one born of him.

²⁰Whoever says, “I love God,” but hates his brother is a liar. The one who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love the God whom he has not seen. ²¹And this is the commandment that we have from him: the person who loves God must also love his brother.

Faith Overcomes the World

5 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah^[a] has been born from God, and everyone who loves the parent also loves the child.
