1 John 4:13-16

¹³^(A)By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. ¹⁴We have beheld and ^(B)bear witness that the Father has ^(C)sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

¹⁵^(D)Whoever confesses that ^(E)Jesus is the Son of God, God ^(F)abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶^(G)And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has ^(H)in us. ^(I)God is love, and the one who ^(J)abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

¹³This is how we know that we abide in him and he in us: he has given us his Spirit.

¹⁴We have seen for ourselves and can testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. ¹⁵God abides in the one who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and he abides in God. ¹⁶We have come to know and rely on^[a] the love that God has for us. God is love, and the person who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
