Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; (A)sin is lawlessness. You know that (B)he appeared in order to (C)take away sins, and (D)in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; (E)no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.

Every person who practices sin commits an act of rebellion, and sin is rebellion. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and there is no sin in him. Every person who remains in relationship to him does not sin. Any person who sins has not seen him or known him.
