²⁸ Now, ^(A)little children, remain in Him, so that when He ^(B)appears, we may have ^(C)confidence and ^(D)not ^[a]draw back from Him in shame ^[b]at His ^(E)coming. ²⁹ If you know that ^(F)He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness also ^(G)has been born of Him.

Children of God Love One Another

3 See ^[c](H)how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called ^(I)children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because ^(J)it did not know Him. ^2 (K)Beloved, now we are ^(L)children of God, and ^(M)it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He ^(N)appears, we will be ^(O)like Him, because we will ^(P)see Him just as He is. ³ And everyone who has this ^(Q)hope set on Him ^(R)purifies himself, just as He is pure.
