²⁴ As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning^(A) remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.^(B)

¹⁴ He called you^(A) to this through our gospel,^(B) that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm^(C) and hold fast to the teachings^[a] we passed on to you,^(D) whether by word of mouth or by letter.

¹⁶ May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,^(E) who loved us^(F) and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, ¹⁷ encourage^(G) your hearts and strengthen^(H) you in every good deed and word.
