4 For [a]whoever has been (A)born of God (B)overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.
5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who (C)believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the One who came (D)by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not [b]with the water only, but [c]with the water and [d]with the blood. It is (E)the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are (F)three that testify: 8 [e]the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are [f]in agreement.

6 This is the one who came by water and blood(D)—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood.
