3 (A)By this we know that we have come to (B)know Him, if we (C)keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “(D)I have come to (E)know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a (F)liar, and (G)the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever (H)follows His word, in him the (I)love of God has truly been perfected. (J)By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says that he (K)remains in Him (L)ought, himself also, walk just as He walked.

3 And by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He who says “I know him” but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly love for God is perfected. By this we may be sure that we are in him: 6 he who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
