Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that (A)“an idol has no real existence,” and that (B)“there is no God but one.” For although there may be (C)so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”— yet (D)for us there is one God, the Father, (E)from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and (F)one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and (G)through whom we exist.

So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God. There may be so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords. But for us,

There is one God, the Father,
    by whom all things were created,
    and for whom we live.
And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ,
    through whom all things were created,
    and through whom we live.
