^16 (A)Do you not know that you^[a] are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? ¹⁷ If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For ^(B)God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

^13 (A)“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one ^(B)and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but ^(C)for the Lord, and ^(D)the Lord for the body.

^18 (A)Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin^[a] a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person ^(B)sins against his own body. ¹⁹ Or ^(C)do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? ^(D)You are not your own, ^20 (E)for you were bought with a price. ^(F)So glorify God in your body.

²⁰ as it is my eager expectation and hope ^(A)that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full ^(B)courage now as always Christ ^(C)will be honored in my body, ^(D)whether by life or by death.

A Living Sacrifice

12 ^(A)I appeal to you therefore, brothers,^[a] by the mercies of God, ^(B)to present your bodies ^(C)as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.^[b]
