Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are (A)mature, a wisdom, however, not of (B)this age nor of the rulers of (C)this age, who are (D)being abolished. But we speak God’s wisdom in a (E)mystery, the wisdom which has been hidden, which God (F)predestined before the (G)ages to our glory, (H)which none of the rulers of (I)this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified (J)the Lord of glory. But just as it is written,

(K)Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 [a](L)But to us God revealed them (M)through the Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, even the (N)depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the depths of a man except the (O)spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the depths of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we (P)have received, not the spirit of (Q)the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the depths graciously given to us by God, 13 of which depths we also speak, (R)not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, [b]combining spiritual depths with spiritual words.

The True Wisdom of God

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification. None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him,”

10 God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit.[a]
