1 Corinthians 15:54-58

New International Version

⁵⁴When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”^[a]^(A)

⁵⁵“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”^[b]^(B)

⁵⁶The sting of death is sin,^(C) and the power of sin is the law.^(D) ⁵⁷But thanks be to God!^(E) He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.^(F)

⁵⁸Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,^(G) because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.^(H)

⁵⁴Now, when what is decaying is clothed with what cannot decay, and what is dying is clothed with what cannot die, then the written word will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up by victory!”^[a]

⁵⁵“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”^[b]

⁵⁶Now death’s stinger is sin, and sin’s power is the Law. ⁵⁷But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus the Messiah!^[c]

⁵⁸Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that the work that you do for the Lord isn’t wasted.
