27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be (A)guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must (B)test himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number [a](C)sleep. 31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are (D)disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with (E)the world.

33 So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 If anyone is (F)hungry, let him eat (G)at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will (H)direct (I)when I come.

Examine Yourself

27 Therefore whoever eats (A)this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and [a]blood of the Lord. 28 But (B)let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks [b]in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the [c]Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many [d]sleep. 31 For (C)if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, (D)we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 Therefore, my brethren, when you (E)come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.
