Head Coverings

Now (A)I praise you because you (B)remember me in everything and (C)hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you. But I want you to understand that [a]Christ is the (D)head of every man, and (E)the man is the head of a woman, and God is the (F)head of [b]Christ. Every man who has something on his head while praying or (G)prophesying, shames his head. But every (H)woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying, shames her head, for she is one and the same as the woman [c]whose head is (I)shaved. For if a woman does not cover [d]her head, let her also [e]have her hair cut short. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to [f]have her hair cut short or [g]her head shaved, let her cover [h]her head. For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the (J)image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of man. For (K)man [i]does not originate from woman, but woman from man. For indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but (L)woman for the man’s sake. 10 Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven. For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled. For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man: for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man: 10 for this cause ought the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels.
