1 Corinthians 11:17-22

¹⁷Now in giving this next instruction ^(A)I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse. ¹⁸For, in the first place, when you come together ^[a]as a church, I hear that ^[b]^(B)divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it. ¹⁹For there also ^(C)have to be factions among you, ^(D)so that those who are approved may become ^[c]evident among you. ²⁰Therefore when you come together it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper, ²¹for when you eat, each one takes his own supper first; and one goes hungry while ^(E)another gets drunk. ²²What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the ^(F)church of God and ^(G)shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Shall ^(H)I praise you? In this I do not praise you.

Conduct at the Lord’s Supper

¹⁷Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. ¹⁸For first of all, when you come together as a church, ^(A)I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. ¹⁹For ^(B)there must also be factions among you, ^(C)that those who are approved may be ^[a]recognized among you. ²⁰Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper. ²¹For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and ^(D)another is drunk. ²²What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise ^(E)the church of God and ^(F)shame ^[b]those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.
