New International Version
6 Now these things occurred as examples(A) to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters,(B) as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”[a](C) 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.(D) 9 We should not test Christ,[b](E) as some of them did—and were killed by snakes.(F) 10 And do not grumble, as some of them did(G)—and were killed(H) by the destroying angel.(I)

1 Corinthians 10:6-10
International Standard Version
6 Now their experiences serve as examples for us so that we won’t set our hearts on evil as they did. 7 Let’s stop being idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to play.”[a] 8 Let’s stop sinning sexually, as some of them were doing, and on a single day 23,000 fell dead. 9 Let’s stop putting the Lord[b] to the test, as some of them were doing, and were destroyed by snakes. 10 You must stop complaining, as some of them were doing, and were annihilated by the destroyer.
